I'd tell the customer to think on if any original tiles do come away from the walls with your new ones on then it's not your fault, after you have completed and being payed for the job, and you will not offer any form of warrenty for the job in this case, and will be charged for any problems that need sorting out afterwards.

Or say nothing, and only come out with this if it does happen in time to come.
