Default Tiling a shower cubicle

Hi,

I've been asked to tile a shower cubicle - my first - and wondered if anyone could please explain to me what would be the best way to lay the job out? A starting point for the tiles?

The tiles have to be laid over old tiles which the client doesn't want removed, so I will scrub these with sugar soap first, but how long should I then leave this to dry before I apply the new tiles?

One last question - after grouting, how long would you recommend I should wait before applying silicone to the bottom of the tiles?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Steve
