all limestones differ some of the porous ones can take 7 coats of impregnator before they are sealed my advice would be to test one tile by applying 2-3 coats and see if you can work with it with out staining or water marks

if water beads on the tile surfice would that be a good indicator that i have applied enough sealer.
gary, did you mean 2-3 coats prior to laying or in total?

Leave the beads for about 5 mins, then wipe off.. if no colour change to the tile then enough has been used.

I tend to find, even on the most porous lime stones that 2 coats of mattstone are sufficient to allow you to lay without marking problems.

You must work clean and wipe adhesive of as you go...

As gary has said, it could take up to several coats before the stone will stop absorbing any sealer.

You now should not need any more for 5 yrs +...

you will need to do a test to see how many coats it will need, there is no point laying the tiles if they are not adequately sealed/impregnated ,once you have laid them and grouted seal them again after the grout has thorughly dried out ,this not only helps seal the tiles but also seals the grout aswell
