Default shower cubicle

Hi all, I have to tile my 1st shower cubicle in the next few weeks and was going to use the Bal wp1 shower kit for waterproofing the plasterboard walls. This will also be the 1st time using one of these kits.
I know the theory is for this to protect the wall behind the tile from water damage should it penetrate through the tile or grout , but could someone tell me if water is going through and the walls are sealed were does the water go if you have sealed your shower tray in ? Surely it can't just sit in behind the tiles. Hope this does not sound too stupid.
Cheers Ian
