1. 2mm spacers

2. use sander and score as you say

3. make sure its a dispersion adhesive which is recommended for tile on tile such as sontex acrylic or Bal white star to name a few.

4.why dont you mitre the edges as this will give a better appearance than the bisciut of the tile showing.
