yes the tiles are 450mm x 450mm 'artistic' honed and filled travertine, so quite heavy and in the past i have used benfer powdered cement buttering the back of the tile in addition to trowelling the wall. The wall itself is, as I mentioned, quarried stone probably 3ft thick with cavity -yorkshire dales location. Rather uneven and appears to be papered over and painted. height 2300mm width 2000mm with small recessed window in centre! need to bond well with wall given shear weight tiles will have - I am assuming the paper will pull away easily
