Default tiling onto lino floor

hi fellas, hope your all having a good weekend!!

Starting a job this week tiling a kitchen floor, The owner of the house has just ripped the old laminate flooring up and found underneath that the older part of the house there's lino floor. it's flat enough and feels like it's been fused to the floor. Does this have to come up or can it be tiled on? I'm aware that given the choice i would rather rip the lot up and start again, but as always 'the guy in the tile shop' said it's ok so the customer doesn't want to rip it up! Any words of wisdom?
