Leveling compounds almost always contain a portion of hydraulic cement, such as Portland cement, and
here's why it's not a good idea to use PVA with such products. Latex leveling compounds are probably less sensitive to PVA than mainly cement based compounds, as they often contain less cement, and forms of vinyl ester, but I still wouldn't use PVA.
